Fuel Selector Valve. Crossfeed of fuel from auxilliary tanks is not possible.
Gate valves use on transport category aircraft as shutoff valves.
Fuel selector valve aircraft. Aircraft Fuel Selector Valve or fuel control valve is a major type of aircraft fuel valve that receives fuel the via fuel lines. The primary role of this valve is to serve as a fuel shut off valve. This is essential to allow the crew to prevent fuel from reaching the engine in the event of a fire.
Fuel valves used in light general aviation aircraft as fuel selector valves. Gate valves use on transport category aircraft as shutoff valves. Plug valve consists of machined valve housing.
Selector valves are also commonly the poppet type. Detents lock the valve into position when the cam pushes a poppet fully off of its seat. A single selector valve is not used in complex fuel systems of transport category aircraft.
Fuel is piped through fuel lines to a fuel control valve usually known as the fuel selector. This is required to provide the crew with a means to prevent fuel reaching the engine in case of an engine fire. The second function is to allow the pilot to choose which tank feeds the engine.
The selector valves can also direct fuel from the auxilliary tank to the engine on the same side. Crossfeed of fuel from auxilliary tanks is not possible. From the outlet of the selector valve fuel flows to the strainer.
On some aircraft the strainer is built into the selector valve unit. From the strainer fuel flows to the engine-driven fuel pump. The AECI PN 169-380086-1AEC is an FAA-PMA approved replacement Fuel Selector Valve for the Beech models 192324 including all variants and serial numbers.
Model names for these aircraft include Musketeer Musketeer Super Musketeer Custom Sport Sundowner Super R and Sierra. They include aircraft ejector distribution valves electrically operated gate valves aircraft regulator relief valves and aircraft pressure relief valves. We do not service any fuel selector valves due to limited overhaul documentation and parts availability. We overhaul exchange repair and bench check aircraft valves.
This placard is to be located forward of the fuel selector valve and must state. Both tanks on for takeoff and landing. Note that this placard is required by certification for airworthiness constitutes a limitation and is to be followed by the pilot.
See 14 CFR 919. 919 Civil aircraft flight manual marking and placard requirements. Vent valves control the flow of air in or out of the system.
Common uses include purging of air in fuel tanks or other reservoirs or to allow air to enter systems to facilitate draining. Allen offers vent valves for use in water fuel oil and hydraulic systems. The SPRL-V1 is a threefour way fuel selector offering left-off-right and both if required.
There are 90 degrees between selections and the absence of a lower fitting reduces the depth required. These English fuel valves have some great features that make them better than the rest. The fuel selector valve allows the pilot to choose which tank is feeding fuel to the engine.
Some systems require you to alternate between Left and Right tanks while others offer a Both position. Some aircraft might favor one side over the other when Both is selected. Select the appropriate side to rectify any fuel imbalance.
Fuel selector valve and shut-off valve seal kits are conveniently packaged to include all of the necessary o-rings andor gaskets applicable to specific single engine Cessna aircraft models. McFarlane replaces the old Buna-N or Nitrile MS series o-rings and early synthetic rubber NAS series o-rings with fluorocarbon elastomer which has improved fuel and heat resistance. Andair design and manufactured precision aircraft components - typically fuel system items such as.

The Andair Standard fuel selector range incorporates 14FS16 38FS20 and the 12FS25 Valves. These valves allow for multiple tank switching of one fuel line.
All Andair valves are designed for safety and incorporate several design features that allow a positive selection action. Please check the boxes for the options that you would like to add. Leave all boxes unchecked for unit only.

I bought a Newton V9 four way duplex valve to use on my Slepcev Storch fuel system from Aircraft Spruce. It has LR Both and Off settings. Also has provision for returning excess fuel back to one of the wing tanks.
It has total of 6 inletoutlets. I guess I assumed it would come with a plumbing diagram showing proper fuel line hook ups. Since the aircraft already needs to have a fuel selector valve anyway its easier to just design the valve in such a way to satisfy item 1 on the list.
Make sure the fuel pump can only draw from one tank at a time - ie. Dont provide a Both position on a low-wing aircraft. The new McFarlane valve is computer machined for a perfect balance of fuel flow.
You can rest assured that if its a new McFarlane valve or a valve repaired by McFarlane it will be pressure functional and flow tested to perform to the highest standards. Now for more good news. The third and smaller o-ring on the center of the fuel selector shaft M832481-011 had damage in two spots which was being caused by burs within the valve itself.
Over time these burs higher rough sharp to the touch inconsistencies in the countersunk start to the fuel channels - spots are hard to see in my photo but I drew lines to the area Im talking about had chewed away the center o-ring o-ring damage easily seen in the other attached photo which was what was allowing fuel. Fuel Selector Valve. The fuel selector valve allows you to select which tank you would like to draw fuel from.
In the Piper Archer TX like many aircraft you can only draw fuel from one tank at a time. So why not both. Under FAR 23951 aircraft manufacturers are not permitted to design a fuel pump that can draw fuel from more than one tank at a time.

A single-engine piston aircraft has a simple fuel system. A tanker such as the KC-135 in addition to managing its own fuel can also provide fuel to other aircraft. Fuel is piped through fuel lines to a fuel control valve usually known as the fuel selector.
This valve serves several functions. The first function is to act as a fuel shut-off valve. This is required to provide the crew with a means to prevent fuel.
Fuel Selector Valve and Shut Off Valve Seal kits are conveniently packaged to include all of the necessary O-rings andor gaskets applicable to specific single engine Cessna aircraft models. Replaces the old Buna N or Nitrile MS Series O-rings and early synthetic rubber NAS Series O-rings.
